The Camping Page
It is with the deepest of regret that we have to announce there will now be no camping facility at this year's SinS event.
The school are not allowing any wheeled vehicle onto the school field. This applies to all organisations hiring the school. All wheeled vehicles will now be positioned on hard standing throughout the school. It has become clear there is inadequate hard standing space at the school to accommodate all SinS vehicles and vans. We have scoured the area for alternative venues but all the suitable ones are previously booked with a variety of different functions.
This means that campers will now have to find, and book, their own commercial venues. We have looked at many local ones and the only one big enough to take all camping Sinners has not had favourable reviews on the www.
We recognise that some of you may consequently be put off from coming for the weekend. Please accept our sincerest apologies for this. Our own grief is as much as yours probably is. Others of you that have already booked our camp site will be given full refunds. If this also means you cancel your orienteering entries a full entry refund will also be given. Let us know if you wish to cancel your orienteering by using the suggested links at the bottom of this page. You do not need to make contact if all you need is your camping refund. Refunds may take three weeks from now (30/03/09) due the cheque signatory's untimely holiday! Those of you who are determined this setback will not spoil your weekend, and who will seek out alternative camping sites, please realise we are not in a position to either recommend or denounce any camping site. However, those of you in the Camping Club will find many of their small sites quite close to our events area. There is no shortage of small camp sites within the vicinity. Your searches can start here.
This is a severe blow to WRE and HOC orienteers and we sincerely hope you will still support us in our venture. Both clubs also recognise the inconvenience this will cause to all our campers and extend sincerest apologies for this.
Rest assured, our next SinS in 2011 will definitely have its own camp site once again, we're working on it now!
If you have observations to make, opinions to air, information to impart or questions to ask, we would welcome them all and will help as much as we can. You can make this contact by emailing camping-09 "at" sins.org.uk or go to our Camping Contact page where we have added a special page for sending camping correspondence.
