A touch of Sweden comes to Shropshire

Organisers have arranged for a "Barbecue Zone" at the SinS Campsite which they are hoping will be a real social highlight of the event.

As with many things - it started as a necessity - the caterers have withdrawn because not enough people have pre-booked meals. Also - we are not allowed to have barbecues on the grass as too many people have put their disposables on the ground and burnt holes in the pitches - so - how could we turn this to our advantage and make sure you campers get something to eat?

Well! Thinking back to last year's Swedish O-ringen - when due to fire risk the organisers set up Barbecue Zones - These turned out to be a great social focus point - the Brit colonised one and had a good time.

So, the idea is to set up a cordoned off "Barbecue Zone" where you can either bring your own BBQs or use the communal ones - come as a club, group of friends or individuals. There will also be an outdoor seating area to develop a sort of Bistro atmosphere where you can sit and chat with friends over your maps and a glass of wine - sounds good doesn't it?

You'll have a good view of the early evening "O" Lympic Biathalon (Saturday 3-legged 20 minute score race - Sunday The Run-In competition). and you'll be nice and close for one of Liz Furness' excellent Quiz Evenings on Saturday and Sunday's barn-storming Ceilidh.

The Barbecue zone will be open each evening from 5pm where you can bring your own barbecues or use one of the big communal ones to cook your own food - why not link up with club mates to make a party. A seating area will be provided - but feel free to add your own tables and chairs to it. In the event of bad weather food may be eaten in the school refectory. NB - Please do not bring liquid fire lighting fuel - solid lighters or self-lighting charcoal only.

Q:  Did you hear that the Post Office have just recalled their latest stamps?
A:  They had pictures of Manchester United Players on them ... and people couldn't figure out which side to spit on.
